About Konstantinos Koutroumpis

Konstantinos conducts the Tonkünstler Orchestra in a performance of his orchestral piece Flower Mantodea in Grafenegg Auditorium, Austria (2020) as a parcticipant of the INK STILL WET series.
Konstantinos Koutroumpis was born in Athens, Greece in 1991 and is a composer of acoustic music. He studied composition at the London College of Music, where he earned the Albert Thomas Howard Composition Award, and continued his studies at the University of Manchester. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Hong Kong BU, where he received 1st prize at NC Wong Young composers award, focusing on acoustic ecology and incorporating insect ultrasounds and natural patterns into his music. He collaborates with entomologists from different parts of the world, while also acquiring his own data in the wild through field recordings of various habitats and species.

Koutroumpis has earned awards, participated in festivals and collaborated with ensembles and orchestras worldwide (Austria, Argentina, China, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Norway, United Kingdom) including the Tonkünstler Orchester in Austria, the Duisburger Philharmoniker in Germany, and the Stavanger Orchestra in Norway.
